📺 In context
층간소음 (inter-floor noise) is Korea's #1 apartment dispute. It makes national news regularly. Koreans take it VERY seriously. Solutions: 1) Talk to the neighbor.
Neighbor interaction phrases
Hello, I'm ○○ from next door
I just moved in. Please take care of me (traditional greeting)
Excuse me, I think the noise might be a bit loud...
What day is recycling?
Could you hold my package for a moment?
When moving into a Korean apartment, the tradition is to bring 떡 (rice cakes) or laundry detergent to neighbors. 이사떡 (moving rice cakes) signals: 'I'm new here, please be patient with noise, let's get along.' It's fading but still appreciated.
💡

Korean recycling is INTENSE. You must separate: 종이 (paper), 플라스틱 (plastic), 캔 (cans), 유리 (glass), 비닐 (vinyl/plastic bags), 음식물 (food waste). Getting it wrong = angry notes from neighbors or management. Each area has slightly different rules — ask your 관리사무소 on day one.
